Cold Front Moves Through New York Tonight
A cold front will move across the region this evening, bringing a drop in temperatures and setting the stage for an active start to the week.
The National Weather Service in New York says several systems will influence the area over the next few days, including a developing coastal low that will pass near Long Island on Tuesday.
Cold Front Arrives This Evening
A cold front sweeping across the Northeast will pass through the New York City metro area tonight. Behind the front, high pressure builds in from the west, leading to clearer skies and colder conditions into Monday.
Temperatures will fall overnight, and Monday is expected to be a dry but chilly day as the high briefly settles over the region.
The calm weather will be short-lived. By Monday night, the high pressure system begins to move offshore as low pressure develops over the southern United States.
Early Tuesday, a secondary coastal low forms along the Mid-Atlantic coastline. This low is expected to track south and east of Long Island Tuesday afternoon and evening.
